Calvary Family,

This Sunday, the first Sunday of the month, we will gather for First Sunday Praise and Prayer. The purpose of First Sunday Praise and Prayer is threefold.

• We gather in the sanctuary to lift our voices in praise to God for his goodness to us.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. -Psalm 100:4-5

• We gather to seek his face. Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. - Psalm 105:4

Seeking God’s face” in prayer means we express to God our desire just to know him and to experience and enjoy his presence. David expressed this type of prayer beautifully when he wrote:

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

-Psalm 63:1

• We gather to seek his hand. “Seeking God’s hand” in prayer means we come unashamedly to the Lord and ask for his provision in our lives.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. -Hebrews 4:16

See you this Sunday evening at 6 p.m.!

-Pastor Randy
