A Note From
Holy Cross Chaplaincy
2 Minute Read
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10
Final Week of Chaplaincy
Holy Cross Chaplaincy will close for the term after our final day on Tuesday, April 8th. There will be no more campus Masses until the fall. We give thanks to God for the many graces poured out this year, and we hold each of you in prayer as you move into Holy Week and Easter.
Chrism Mass
Join us for the Chrism Mass, one of the most beautiful liturgies of the year.
- Tuesday of Holy Week (next week) at 12:00 pm
- Location: Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica
- At this Mass, priests from across the diocese renew their vows and the bishop consecrates the oils used in the sacraments throughout the year.
- Need a ride? We’re offering pickups from SMU and Dal—just reply to this email or send a text to arrange.
Enter into the heart of Holy Week with a day of prayer, silence, and community.
- April 18th, 9:30 am – 7:00 pm
- Atlantic School of Theology
- Includes a guided silent retreat, the Good Friday liturgy at the Cathedral, and an optional screening of The Passion of the Christ.
- Register: here
Please pray for our Household members as they prepare for their end-of-year retreat on April 25–26.
Interested in joining Household next year? We are still accepting applications for both men and women. Learn more and apply here.
Holy Week at Home
As we enter Holy Week, here are a few ways you might bring the mystery of Christ’s Passion into your home:
- Palm Crosses or Branches: Set a branch by your door or make a palm cross to mark Palm Sunday.
- Holy Thursday Meal: Share a simple meal with family or friends, remembering the Last Supper.
- Good Friday Silence: Consider keeping part of the day in silence between 12–3 pm.
- Resurrection Candle: Light a candle early Easter morning and read the Gospel of the Resurrection aloud.
Feast Days This Week
- Monday, April 7 – Saint John Baptist de la Salle, Priest
- Friday, April 11 – Saint Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr
