CHAOS IS BIRTHED FROM THE LACK OF ACHDUTThe Hebrew word for “unity” is אַחְדוּת (achdut). This term signifies oneness, solidarity, and harmony. Another related term is יָחַד (yachad), which also means unity or togetherness.Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! (Psalms 133:1)Unity, or אַחְדוּת (achdut) in Hebrew, is a cornerstone of the identified Life of Jesus Christ. It reflects the oneness of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as well as their desire for His people to live in harmony - singing the same tune. When believers come together in unity, they create a powerful witness of God’s mission within all believers. Conversely, a lack of unity can lead to chaos and division within the Body of Christ, hindering the work of the Holy Spirit. Such in the case of gossip - telling someone else's story.1. The Beauty of Unity: Psalm 133:1 beautifully captures the essence of unity among God’s chosen people. When we live together in unity, it is both glorious and pleasant. Unity brings peace, rest, joy, and a sense of familiar belonging. It allows us to work together effectively, encouraging one another and advancing the Life of Yeshua from within.2. The Power of Unity: In the early church, unity was not only a powerful force, but necessary to survive as believers. Acts 2:42-47 describes how the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. Their unity was evident in their shared lives and mutual unpretentious care for one another. This unity attracted others to receive the indwelling Life of Jesus - through the Holy Spirit. Thus, the authentic church grew rapidly.3. The Consequences of Disunity: When unity is lacking, chaos and division can emerge. Disunity can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and a breakdown of Body Life relationships. It can hinder our ability to serve God effectively and damage our witness to the unsaved world. Jesus prayed for His followers to be one, just as He and the Father are one (John 17:21). This prayer underscores the importance of unity in fulfilling God’s purposes within us.4. Working Toward Unity: Achieving unity requires the effort of releasing Christ from within - with intentionality. Ephesians 4:3 urges us to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. This involves humility, patience, and a willingness to release Christ's forgiveness from within us. When we prioritize unity, we create an environment where the Holy Spirit can work powerfully among the authentic believers, as well as those that are lost.Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of unity. Cause us to enact achdut in our relationships and within our local gatherings. May our unity reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. Protect us from the chaos and division that can arise from disunity. Empower us to live in harmony and support one another as we seek to advance Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.Pursue unity within the church and local community of believers, knowing that together, we can reflect the power of the saving Life of Yeshua/Jesus in all that we do.
