Family Matters – A Short Devotional
Scripture: Luke 2:49 (NKJV)"Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?"
Devotional Thought:
From a young age, Jesus knew what mattered most—His Father’s business. But His definition of “family business” wasn’t about keeping up appearances or protecting an image. It was about being in His Father’s presence, walking in obedience, and loving people authentically.
Many of us have grown up in environments where we felt the pressure to "hold it together"—to look strong, keep secrets, and never let others see our struggles. But God doesn’t bless who we pretend to be; He blesses who we truly are when we surrender to Him.
Jesus invites us into something deeper than religious obligation—He invites us into relationship. True family business isn’t about perfection; it’s about pursuing God’s presence. It’s not about keeping secrets; it’s about surrendering our burdens to Him. And it’s not about performance; it’s about loving others the way He loves us.
Reflection Questions:
- Are you focused on looking the part, or are you truly pursuing God’s presence?
- What burdens have you been carrying that you need to surrender to Jesus today?
- How can you love others more authentically, just as Jesus commanded?
Father, I don’t want to just go through the motions—I want to be about Your business. Help me to let go of pretense, embrace Your presence, and love people the way You do. Teach me to surrender what I’ve been holding onto and trust You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
