THE POWER OF THE LOCAL CHURCH
The Hebrew word for “power” is כֹּ֖חַ (koach), which is pronounced as “ko’-akh.” This word means “strength,” “power,” “force,” or "ability." Another Hebrew word that can be used for “power” is תֹּ֫קֶף (toqeph), which means “power,” “strength,” or "energy." Koach is directly connected to the power of the Holy Spirit. "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)The local church is a radiant reflection of hope, a place where God’s power is manifested in profound ways. When we gather as a community of indwelt believers, we are not just coming together for fellowship; we are uniting under the mighty Koach (power) of God, which is released through the Holy Spirit within all born-again believers. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promises His disciples that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them. This Koach (power) is not just for personal edification but for the purpose of being witnesses to the ends of the earth. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work within us, enabling us to live out our faith boldly and effectively.- Power to Transform Lives: The power of God in the local church transforms lives. It breaks chains of addiction, heals broken hearts, and restores relationships. When we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us, we become vessels of God’s transformative power, bringing hope and healing to those around us.
- Power to Unite: God’s Koach unites us as a body of believers. Despite our differences, we are brought together by the love of Christ. This unity is a powerful testimony to the world of God’s LOVE and GRACE. When we stand together in unity, we reflect the heart of God and His desire for His people to be one.
- Power to Serve: The power of God equips us to serve others selflessly. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of service by laying down His life for us. As His Bridal members, we are called to serve one another through His indwelling love. The Holy Spirit empowers us to serve with humility and compassion, meeting the needs of our community and beyond.
